Celebrating Multicultural Children’s Book Day!

Social Nudge is celebrating diversity in literature. Follow along and be sure to share all of the wonderful publishing companies, authors and illustrators who work very hard to provide your family with books that reflect our world.

Our Mission: The MCCBD team’s mission to spread the word and raise awareness about the importance of diversity in children’s literature. Our young readers need to see themselves within the pages of a book and experience other cultures, languages, traditions and religions within the pages of a book. We encourage readers, parents, teachers, caregivers and librarians to follow along the fun book reviews, author visits, event details, a multicultural children’s book linky and via our hashtag (#ReadYourWorld) on Twitter and other social media.

The co-creators of this unique event are Mia Wenjen from Pragmatic Mom and Valarie Budayr from Jump Into a Book/Audrey Press. You can find a bio for Mia and Valarie here.

Multicultural Children’s Book day 2016 Medallion Level Sponsors! #ReadYourWorld

Multicultural Children’s Book Day has 12 amazing Co-Host and you can view them here.

The BIG news is this: for our upcoming Classroom Reading Challenge, Junior Library Guild has agreed to sponsor this portion of the MCCBD 2016 event and donate up to 200 books for classrooms and teachers!
The Classroom Reading Challenge is a new project for us but it is a way for teachers to sign up, read up to four multicultural books in their classroom and earn a free multicultural book from us. Having Junior Library Guild on board assures that the free book classrooms earn from MCCBD is a pre-screened, library-quality book that maps to Common Core. This is a HUGE and exciting benefit for this project. More details HERE on the MCCBD Classroom Reading Challenge and please pass this on to any educator you know who would like a free diversity children's book for their classroom.
Thats all for now! Dont forget to use our official hashtag #ReadYourWorld whenever possible too. Thanks for your support and we appreciate you guys!

-Reminder: The hashtag for this event is #ReadYourWorld

Thank you so much for your support!

The Cybils Awards Judges Are Announced!

It's official! The Cybils Awards Judges Are Announced!
Kristi's Book Nook is a panelist for Round 1!
I'm so excited to be able to read so many books and cast a vote for the best of the best in children's literature for 2016. Stay tuned for more reviews of some really cool books. My category for judging will be EarlyReader/Early Chapter books.

Cybils Awards Mission The Cybils Awards aims to recognize the children’s and young adult authors and illustrators whose books combine the highest literary merit and popular appeal. If some la-di-dah awards can be compared to brussels sprouts, and other, more populist ones to gummy bears, we’re thinking more like organic chicken nuggets. We’re yummy and nutritious.
