Social Nudge Necessities

Most small business owners don’t know a thing about social media. For them, it’s overwhelming and times consuming. This is one reason why I started Social Nudge. I just want to help small businesses become social even if it’s just the basics. I consider the basics, for a minimal online presence, to be Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and a blog or website.

Creating a Facebook fan page is fairly easy. If you’re just getting started with your business, Facebook is a great way to share with family and friends in your immediate circle. As a result, your network will grow slow and steady. You will have an excellent support group to share your products and successes with. In turn, your family and friends will share with their family and friends and so on.

I like Pinterest because it provides visual sharing that is short, sweet and to the point. At a glance, potential clients can take a look at your product and if they are interested in learning more they can view your website and learn even more. Pinterest entices potential clients to see what you have to offer. Your followers and clients can share your products too. One of the best ways to sell is for people to see what you are all about.

I love Twitter. So many people have gotten on the bandwagon. Twitter is not just about 140 characters; you can share pictures and videos of your products. If you set up an account with Hootsuite or Social Oomph you could schedule your tweets for a day, week or longer. You can even tweet from your cell phone. This comes in handy if you are hosting an event and want to share in real-time.

Last but not least, small businesses need a website or blog. Having a place to direct potential and existing clients to is imperative. Not only that, you will need a place to host and cell your products and provide much needed information of what new products you will be launching. Clients need a place to interact and express their views about your product.
It’s a good idea for any small business to have one or all of the platforms I’ve mentioned. Give your potential clients a place to learn more about and you and your product. Become personable and connect with followers. Social Nudge is just the nudge you need to become social.

The Cybils Awards Judges Are Announced!

It's official! The Cybils Awards Judges Are Announced!
Kristi's Book Nook is a panelist for Round 1!
I'm so excited to be able to read so many books and cast a vote for the best of the best in children's literature for 2016. Stay tuned for more reviews of some really cool books. My category for judging will be EarlyReader/Early Chapter books.

Cybils Awards Mission The Cybils Awards aims to recognize the children’s and young adult authors and illustrators whose books combine the highest literary merit and popular appeal. If some la-di-dah awards can be compared to brussels sprouts, and other, more populist ones to gummy bears, we’re thinking more like organic chicken nuggets. We’re yummy and nutritious.
